Between the almost 13 hrs of in flight plane time and the 9 hour time difference between California and Rome, it took an entire day to get to my final destination. After arriving in the airport, customs was a breeze and after waiting for the rest of our group we were off to Villa Pieve and the neighboring town of Corciano. the only problem was it took another two hours in a bus to get there. I tried to stay awake for the whole time, but didn't quite make it.
The countryside in Umbria, the region of Italy where our residence is located, is very green and lovely. After our arrival and room check in, we got a tour of the country house, chapel and villa.

Villa Pieve and its castle have been around since the 15th century and the castle originated as a church. The site however, has had settlers since at least the 4th century BC.
Some more pics... oh and the weather was a balmy 89 degrees F today ( or 32 degrees centigrade).
