Foooood!

bruschetta, pronounced 'bru-sketta'. the hard k sound is a must!

I love the food here in Rome where the food is so simple, yet using good quality ingredients makes it delicious! I didn't take any pics of the times we went out to eat in Rome, but here are a few of the meals I prepared in our apt in Rome.

pesto linguine and chicken

About every other morning during the end of our stay I would go to the nearby grocery store in the morning to get some fresh baked, still warm baguettes that tasted like heaven! crispy outside, soft inside, nothing like the bread back home. I didn't have any troubles eating it all before it went stale!

Tomato and mozzarella pesto pasta salad with the good mozzarella. You know, the kind that comes packaged in water.

Usually breakfasts consisted of bread and nutella with either strawberry or blueberry yogurt of my favorite brand.

I took my lunch to school a few times. This lunch was salad with bread, tomatoes and mozzarella for some on the go bruschetta.

Spaghetti with pesto and chicken

Salad with traditional balsamic and olive oil dressing and a nectarine on the side.

Classic Rigatoni noodles with tomato sauce and parmesan.

Sometimes I think it's amazing the Italians aren't overweight what with all the pasta and carbs consumed daily. The answer isn't small portions either because Italians eat at least two courses plus appetizers and the custom is to finish everything on your plate. If you don't finish your second course because you already stuffed yourself with pasta and bread, some servers will actually ask you if it's because you didn't like it. It couldn't possibly be because you ate your weight in carbs, no it must be because the food is bad...as if!
